Takahashi Dojo New Website

Takahashi Dojo is a historic place where people practice mainly Japanese martial arts. Established in 1969, the dojo has trained Prime Minister Trudeau and has produced numerous Olympians.

There was a lot of feedback that the existing website was not good, so the manager, Allyn Takahashi asked me to create a new website.

The conditions are:

  1.  It’s easy to upload articles,

    2. You don’t want to spend money.

The current website is made with Jumdo, but he said it is very difficult to use. So I suggested WordPress and introduced various WordPress sites and templates.

First, I proposed a rough wire frame and got approval.

The contents are divided into the following categories:

  • About the dojo
  • News
  • 9 types of martial arts
  • Creative arts such as dance, go, and sumi-e
  • Schedule, Map
  • Gallery

I made it in two days during the semester break. All of the logo marks were traced and created anew.

He and many others were excited about the new site.
It’s a temporary domain, but we plan to move it to an official domain.

Logo and business card design

Mr. Akiyama started Trailfinder, a tour company that rents out bicycles and guides people around famous places in English. He was asked to make a logo and business cards.

I thought

  • Tour guides need a license in Provence, so the company image needs to be reliable.
  • However, a stuffy business card will unlikely lead to an enjoyable sightseeing tour.
  • To expand the network, I wanted to make something memorable.

The logo image is of a man riding a bicycle and uses his favourite Bianchi colour (light green).

I decided to infuse his personal touch into the branding process.
I designed a logo that not only represented his business but also reflected his own identity, a unique design that I’m sure will make Mr. Akiyama proud and excited about his brand.

Mr. Akiyama really liked the logo but was a little confused by his own illustration.

While promoting the tour, he realized the importance of the business card concept and had already printed over 600 copies.
